The name Afandou is believed to have come from the word “afandos” due to the fact it could not been seen from the sea which protected it from the pirates. The village is located about 19 kilometers from Rhodes town & 5 kilometers from Faliraki. In the heart of the village you can find a lovely square that is surrounded by cafes, bars, taverna’s & shops. Afandou is famous for its carpet making of which you can find in the local shops. Various accommodations are available from studios, villas to hotels. One kilometer from the village lies the huge beach of Afandou where you will find the golf course, wonderful fish taverna’s & watersports centers.
